SOUTH OTSELIC – The Otselic Valley Vikings boys’ basketball team hosted DeRuyter on Friday in an intense contest between the two Central Counties opponents. OV picked up their third win of the season with a 69-52 victory. It was also their first win against DeRuyter in eight years, according to Coach Preston.
Both teams played well in the first half with OV down by four at halftime. However, the Vikings outscored the Rockets 34-20 in the final 16 minutes. They held DeRuyter to just nine third quarter points and strived on offense to secure the victory.
OV was led by Braeden Davis, who excelled with 28 points and five three-pointers. He also had five steals, five rebounds, and four assists. He currently averages 21.5 points per game through 13 games played. Owen Davis was also in double-digits with 15 points with three three’s. Cole Warren contributed with five points, but was fierce and led the team with 10 rebounds.
OV (3-10) looks to keep their momentum going at Cincinnatus on Friday at 7 p.m. They defeated Cincinnatus 61-44 in their last meeting over holiday break.
