SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Marauders boys' basketball team hosted Cooperstown on Friday night, where they squeezed out the close 54-50 victory. This win helped S-E snap a current two-game losing streak and it was just their second win in the last eight games.
The Marauders have seen many close games this season and were glad to have this one on their side. S-E played well in the first half to take a dominant 29-15 lead at halftime. However, their lead was cut in the third quarter as S-E was held to just eight points. At the end of the third quarter, S-E led just by one, but they made sure to step up the drive and pressure in those final eight minutes. S-E didn't disappoint and picked up their fifth win of the season.
S-E was led by senior Darren Miles with 14 points, including two three's and four free-throws on the night. Dilen Maceda also banked two three's to finish with 11 points while Nick Hull had nine points in the win.
S-E (5-8) ranks third in the CSC Division I standings and will have a week's rest before taking on league opponent Mount Markham. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23.
