CONKLIN – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls' basketball team traveled to take on Sus Valley on Saturday afternoon, coming away with a hard 72-34 loss. Norwich remains consistent on the season with a 5-4 record.
Norwich saw strength in the first half, but Sus Valley was much too strong themselves as they took a 41-23 lead at halftime. Olivia Schiraldi led offensive efforts in the first half with limited help from teammates. She soared with seven points in the first quarter while scoring an additional 10 of the team's 11 points in the second quarter.
Schiraldi finished with a team-high of 20 points, including five three's. Brynley Ryan finished with five points as Josey Ryan, Emma Urgo, Bella Dilorio, Julia Llewellyn, and Julie Turner were all held to just two points in the loss.
Norwich (5-4) heads to Dryden on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Afton falls to Deposit-Hancock 81-64. Ryan Wright led the Crimson Knights with 30 points and five three’s.
Girls’ Basketball:
UV falls to Oneonta 46-38. Jaiden Schrag led the Storm with nine points as Kora Johnson and Myriah Taylor both finished with eight points. Natalie Crandall had six points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
Oxford drops to Walton/Downsville 54-22. Ava Benjamin scores seven points for the Blackhawks.
