SHERBURNE - Experience the joy of winter during the 46th Annual Winter Living Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 3 at Rogers Center in Sherburne.

The event is hosted by Friends of Rogers with help from several regional organizations such as the Bull Thistle Hiking Club and the 209th Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

“This is one of those special events that has a momentum all of its own. Hundreds of people show up every year to volunteer and to celebrate. It is the quintessential celebration of the winter season and it is an honor to host it here.” said David Carson, Friends of Rogers Executive Director.

This year the Winter Living Celebration debuts the newly renovated Bird Cabin after nearly two years of construction. At the Bird Cabin visitors can participate in fun child-focused activities like storytelling with our local libraries, and “All about Groundhogs” with Stephanie Crain, a nod to Groundhog Day the previous day.

Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4H and Grow, Cook, & Serve programs will also be in

attendance with even more fun activities, and outside the Cabin visitors can try their skills with crosscut sawing and enjoy roasting marshmallows.

Visitors have the opportunity to become winter anglers at the ice fishing demonstration, while the DEC

Environmental Conservation Officers just upstream demonstrate safety tips while you’re on the ice.

In keeping with Winter Living Celebration tradition, watch Stan the Ice Man turn ice into works of art and get up close and personal with our local feathered friends by becoming a human bird feeder.

Once you’ve had a chance to walk around, relax on a horse-drawn wagon ride around Rogers Center’s property, admiring all it has to offer or go inside the Rogers Education Center to warm up and listen to live music in the gallery.

Thank you to the Chenango Bird Club and the Rotary Club of Sherburne, food and refreshments will be available for purchase, with all proceeds to benefit Friends of Rogers.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit
