HOMER – Both the Sherburne-Earlville and the Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton Harpursville wrestling teams were in Homer for the Denny Wright Memorial Duals over the weekend. S-E won the duals with a 4-0 record on the day, defeating BGAH, Homer, Sidney, and APW/Pulaski. BGAH went 1-3 with a win against Sidney. The results between BGAH and Sidney are not listed at this time.

However, the match between the two local Chenango county schools was completed with S-E picking up the 50-21 win against the Bears.

BGAH’s Darren Florance, Ryan Blackman (fft), Devon Rowe, and Frank Parsons all picked up wins in the dual against S-E. Florance earned at least two wins during the overall duals with two pins, including a 1:32 pin against S-E’s Cody Pierce. He improved to 21-1 on the season.

Rowe earned his win in a 7-4 decision against S-E’s Alex Campbell in the 170 weight class while Parsons pinned S-E’s Pasley French in 46 seconds.

S-E’s top wrestler was Aiden Kiehn, who went 4-0 in the meet and was named Most Outstanding wrestler. He picked up one win by forfeit before earning three pins. The sophomore pinned BGAH’s Levi Gregory in 32 seconds. Jackson Moore, Justin Race, Cody Clarkson, Landon Andrade, Trenton Anderson, Noah Ackerman, Jonathan Conklin, and Lilly Cox all won their respective matches.

Andrade improved to 23-2 with two quick pins in the duals, including his quickest 32 second pin against APW/Pulaski’s Nicholas Todeschini. Race won all four of his matches with three pins and a forfeit. He pinned BGAH’s Olivir Hilts in 58 seconds in the 152 weight class.

Seventh grader Trenton Anderson is 13-0 in his first season on Varsity, where he won all three matches at the duals. He won by decision and two tough pins. His toughest pin was against Sidney’s Caden Macpherson in 5:39.

S-E hosts Norwich on Wednesday, January 24, where they’ll celebrate seniors Selina Moore and Lilly Cox. BGAH hosts Maine-Endwell in Afton the same night at 6 p.m.
