Winter Track: Norwich And BGA Compete At The Armory

NEW YORK – The Norwich Purple Tornado and the Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton indoor track teams traveled to NYC to compete in the Armory Officials Hall of Fame invitational over the weekend.

Both teams did their best against several other top schools from the city to across the U.S. as far as a school from Texas. Norwich and BGA had a few runners strive to achieve a top 10 finish or better like they’ve been able to accomplish in the more local meets.

BGA:

The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton girls team had two runners continue to strive in the 1000 meter run. Ethne Degan did well in her prominent event, finishing 10th with a new personal best time of 3:00.46. Maddie Ingham finished 34th with a time of 3:21.16.

The Boys saw Collin Dicks and Julian Pruskowski excel in numerous events. Dicks led the Bears with a third place finish in the 55 meter dash, setting a new personal best of 6.88 seconds as Pruskowski picked up his own best of 6.93 seconds for fifth place.

Dicks also earned 11th place in the long jump with a jump of 20 feet, eight inches. Both gentlemen competed in the triple jump, where Dicks finished 17th (40-7) and Pruskowski in 20th (40-1).

NHS:

The Norwich Purple Tornado girls were led by Annie Boland and Kyra Brunick-Davis in the 1000 meter run. Boland finished 37th with a new best time of 3:45.92 while Brunick-Davis ran the event in 3:51.29 for 49th place.

Richard Fuller, Lucas Craddock, and Gabe Blenis stood out for the Norwich boys. Fuller led the Purple Tornado runners with a third place finish in the 300 meters dash with a time of 35.97, which was his new personal best. Teammate Gabe Decker, one week after breaking the 500 meters, finished 33rd with his own best 36.92 seconds. Caden Sutton rounded out the runners with a 33rd place finish in the 1000 meter run (2:51.04).

Lucas Craddock continues to succeed in the fielding events as he earned second in the triple jump and fifth place in the high jump. Craddock jumped 45 feet and six inches in the triple jump, coming up short against Cresskill-New Jersey’s Joshua Yoon (45-10). Craddock tied his own personal best in the high jump with a jump of six feet, four inches.

Gabe Blenis wrapped up the day for Norwich in the weight-throw, where he finished 15th with a throw of 48-9.50.

Norwich will compete in the Quinney STAC invite on February 3 at SUNY Cortland with two meets left until qualifiers. BGA will compete in the Quinney invitational this coming Saturday, January 27 at 6 p.m.
