BAINBRIDGE – Coming off a few close games, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team knew going into Wednesday’s league match-up against Unatego/Franklin would be tough. It sure was, but the Bobcats got the job done with a 50-43 victory, their ninth win of the season. However, they sit in third place behind Delhi and Greene with a 5-2 league record.
Both teams had a rather slow start in the first half with Unatego taking a brief 20-18 lead at halftime . B-G knew they had to come up strong for the second half in order to stay in pace with the Spartans and that’s what they did. In fact, the Bobcats excelled with 32 points in the second half, staying consistent with 16 points in each quarter. They also outscored their tough opponent 32-23 in the final half.
B-G’s efforts were led by James Hogroian with 22 points, including making six-of-11 free-throws at the foul line. Hogroian averages around 21.5 points per game through 13 games played. Michael Lipani also excelled at the foul line, making four-of-five shots, and finished with 16 points. Isaiah Hampton had seven points in the win.
B-G improves to 9-4 on the season and hosts Harpursville on Friday at 6 p.m.
