OXFORD – Following Wednesday’s win against Norwich, the Sherburne-Earlville wrestling team was right back on the mat against Oxford/Greene. S-E picked up its 16th win of the season with a 51-22 win and close out the 2023-2024 regular season with a 16-1 record, heading into sectionals.

S-E earned 24 points off forfeits, where Pasley French, Jackson Moore, Nick Miller, and Trenton Anderson added to their win column. French will join Selina Moore and Lilly Cox in the NYSPHSAA second annual girls invitational this afternoon. Good luck, ladies.

S-E’s Cameron Mason, Justin Race, Cody Clarkson, Richie Fuller, and Landon Andrade achieved victories in their respective weight class. Mason defeated Oxford/Greene’s Chris Callahan in a 1:41 pin in the 145 weight class while Race pinned David Dunkel in 1:28 in the 152 weight class. Clarkson earned a win by pin over Oxford/Greene’s Tallon Davis in 1:38, setting up a quick pace to the meet.

Andrade stayed hot with a pin against Colton Button in 2:19 while Fuller had to earn his 7-0 decision against Urijah Dibble by duking it out in all three periods.

While the Blackhawks were limited in this meet against a strong S-E team, their top wrestlers continued to strive. Eighth grader Kade Mustin defeated S-E’s Cody Pierce in a quick 1:09 pin in the 116 weight class. Aiden Marcin continues to have a great junior year as he pinned Noah Ackerman in 1:13. Marcin improves to 20-2 on the season. Troy Braman had a challenging time against S-E’s Manny Hollins in the 131 weight class, but was able to pick up the 11-2 major decision. Isaiah Sexton also earned a win against Alex Campbell with a pin in 4:48 to round out the scoring for the Blackhawks.

S-E will compete in the CSC League Tournament held at Morrisville-Eaton on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. while Oxford/Greene heads straight into the Section IV Division II qualifiers on Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m.
