SYRACUSE – Sherburne-Earlville's Pasley French, Selina Moore, and Lily Cox competed in the second annual NYSPHSAA girls' wrestling invitational on Friday, held at the SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College. Moore and French made their second consecutive appearance while it was Cox's first and final time competing as a senior.
Moore, who finished second in 2023, strived to follow the same mindset. However, it was a much more challenging year as girls' wrestling is becoming more popular across New York. Moore finished third in her final year, going 5-1.
Her only loss on the day was to New Paltz's Rebecca Brennan in a tough 7-5 decision. Moore added three pins to her win column with two quick pins, her quickest in 19 seconds against Oneonta's Maia Woertendyke. She defeated West Seneca's Christina Evans in the third place finals match with a 2:01 pin.
Cox went 2-2 in the 235 weight class, where she picked up two pins, including a 1:49 pin against Fulton's Marissa Crofoot. Pasley French fell in both matches she faced, but should be ready to improve next year as a senior.
Congratulations, ladies and good luck when competing with the boys to wrap up the complete 2023-2024 season.
