GREENE - Friday's MAC league match-up between the Greene Lady Trojans and the Bainbridge-Guilford Lady Bobcats was one to watch. Both teams have been excelling in divisional play and been strong on the defensive front. With those aspects in mind, Friday's contest was indeed intense. Greene stayed undefeated in league play with a 41-34 victory in overtime.

Both teams showed competitiveness early on with a slow offense drive on both ends of the court early on. B-G took the brief 21-16 lead at halftime before an exciting finish to the game. Greene came out for the second half ready to play and showed fierceness as they held the Bobcats to just two points in the third quarter, which has been a good strategy in previous games. However, both teams slowed things down in the final eight minutes and were tied at 32 at the end of regulation.

Greene brought the pressure again and had an overall 9-2 advantage in overtime to pick up their ninth straight win and their 12th overall win of the season.

Claire Flanagan led the Trojans with 11 points, going three-for-four at the foul line, along with Josie Dutcher who had nine points. Dutcher was held without making any three-pointers. Sisters Mia and Abby Yahner both tied with seven points as Cali Knapp made Greene's only three on the night and finished with five points.

Johnna Henderson and Jayslin Henderson, the sister-duo for the Bobcats, both scored 12 points in the loss. Peyton Umbra knocked in three three's for nine points while Marissa Mayo was held to just one made free-throw.

Greene (12-1) heads to Oxford on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. while B-G (7-7) heads to Walton/Downsville this evening at 7:15 p.m. Greene and B-G will meet again on Friday for their final regular season meeting.
