DEPOSIT – The Greene Trojans boys' basketball team has seen many close games throughout the season and Friday night was no exception. Despite having to play up until the final buzzer, Greene continues to find the willpower to come out on top. The Trojans earned their eighth win of the season in a tight 55-53 victory against Deposit-Hancock. Greene remains in second place of the MAC behind Delhi with a 6-1 league record. Greene also has Bainbridge-Guilford creeping up behind them in third, meaning they must keep playing up speed in the final remaining league contests.

Greene was down throughout most of the game as Deposit-Hancock stands by their strong junior guard Blake Fortunato, who dropped 21 points in the loss. Greene was down 47-40 heading into the final eight minutes, knowing that they needed a big boost and they got it. Greene outscored the Eagles 15-6 in the final quarter to secure the victory.

Joel Vielandi paved the way for the Trojans with 21 points and had three three-pointers. Jaden Eroshevich finished behind him with 14 points, where he hit three three's in the second quarter. Trevor Ketcham added 11 points while Will Dunlap was held to just four points in the win.

Greene (8-5) hosts Afton on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
