Winter Track: BGA, Oxford/Greene, And UV Compete At Section IV Class Championships

CORTLAND – The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton, the Oxford/Greene, and the Unadilla Valley indoor track teams ran in the Section IV Class C/D championships held at SUNY Cortland on Saturday. BGA girls became class C champions with a score of 84.33 while the boys took fourth. The UV girls finished fourth as the boys took 12th. Neither of the Oxford/Greene teams placed, but continued to improve on their times. Full results can be found at ny.milesplit.com.

BGA Girls:

The BGA girls had a lot to be proud of during the championships as several runners achieved top finishes to help win the class C title. Makayla McCloud and Ethne Degan picked up notable first place achievements individually while the 4x800 meter relay team came in second. The 4x800 relay team was led by Maddie Ingham, Lelania Baldwin, Macey LaFever, and Vanessa Brazee, who completed the event in 11:28.76 behind Lansing’s 11:27.66.

Degan stood out in all three of her prominent events on the day. She took first in all events, including the 1500 meter run, the 1000 meters, and lastly the 3000 meter run. In the 1000 meter run, she ran a time of 3:08.31 while teammate Maddie Ingham finished third (3:15.75). Degan ran the 3000 meter run in 11:23.22 as Lelania Baldwin came in sixth place. Vanessa Brazee completed the 1500 meter run in 6:01.31 for seventh place.
