DOWNSVILLE – After a hard loss to Greene in overtime, the Bainbridge-Guilford Lady Bobcats went back to work on Monday against Walton/Downsville. It was another close game, but the Bobcats took the 41-32 win to improve to 8-7 on the season.

B-G was shutout in the first quarter for the first time this season, which is quite unusual for this powerhouse team. However, they got back on track in the second quarter and only found themselves down 19-15 at halftime. The Bobcats continued to strive in the second half that pushed them into victory mode, especially in the final eight minutes.

B-G was still down 30-28, but outscored Walton/Downsville 13-2 in the fourth quarter, sparking a great comeback. Fourth quarter efforts were led by Johnna Henderson and Marissa Mayo. Henderson excelled with nine points while Mayo made four in those final minutes.

Jayslin Henderson led the Bobcats with 14 points, where she was perfect from the foul line (4-4) and scored 10 of the team’s 13 points in the third quarter. Johnna followed with 12 points and both Jayslin and Johnna added six steals. Jayslin also led the team with nine rebounds as Marissa Mayo, who hit two three’s to finish with 10 points, had six rebounds in the win.

B-G (8-7) faces Greene again in their next match-up on Friday in Bainbridge this time. It should be another close game between these two strong teams. The game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
