OWEGO – After falling short to Waverly on Monday, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ basketball team hit the road to take on STAC opponent Owego on Wednesday night. Norwich played strong throughout the entire contest, but came up short as the game went into overtime. Owego outscored Norwich 12-7 in overtime to win 75-70.

Norwich watched as Colin Olds continued to excel in the second straight game with breaking out in the first quarter before helping out in overtime. Olds contributed eight of the 17 first quarter team points and added two in overtime. He tied with Graham Burton with 19 points. Burton strived in the final two quarters with 11 points, including five points in overtime.

Norwich held a one-point lead 42-41 at the end of the third quarter and it was an intense fourth quarter with Owego firing up with 22 points. The game was tied at 63 a piece at the end of regulation, making for an even wilder finish. Olds and Burton led the Purple Tornado offensively, but Owego could not be stopped themselves.

While Olds and Burton paved the way, Steven Dowdall finished behind them with 18 points, where he scored seven points in the fourth quarter and went six-for-nine at the foul line. Jacob Morris knocked in two three’s to finish with eight points in the loss.

Norwich (7-7) looks to snap a three-game skid as they head to Windsor on Saturday at 11:45 a.m.
