CHENANGO COUNTY — In honor of Presidents' Day, U.S. Representative Marc Molinaro (NY-19) announced his office is having an essay writing contest for young students in New York's 19th Congressional District, which includes Chenango County.

Presidents' Day was on February 19. The holiday was originally established in 1879 to celebrate the birthday of George Washington.

Molinaro said the essay should be 400 words or less and is prompting third, fourth, and fifth grade students to consider what they would do, if they were president for a day.

Molinaro asked, "What would you do if you were president for a day, would you make pizza-Friday, every day? Would you build playgrounds accessible to those with disabilities?”
