NORWICH — The Chenango Greenway Conservancy volunteers have worked tirelessly since 2006, to develop a multiple use recreation trail system around the City of Norwich.
The trails, parks, and open spaces along the Chenango River and Norwich area, were developed by the outdoor community group to create a multiple use recreational haven for everyone to enjoy.
Conservancy Board Member and Volunteer Beth Stewart said her favorite part of the Conservancy is the trails and discovering the beauty of Chenango County you can’t see from a car.
“We’d like everyone to take the trails out there, get outside, and enjoy the lovely area,” said Stewart.
She said the committee held a meeting last week and created the following schedule for 2024.
April 8: Solar eclipse viewing from 2 to 3:30 p.m., at Patsy’s Riverview, located at 82 Sheldon Street. Bring your eclipse glasses, a comfy chair, and cameras to capture this astronomical event. Clear sky permitting.
April 27: Chenango River Trail Cleanup, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., will meet at Weiler Park located at 33 Borden Avenue. Community volunteers will partake in environmental stewardship to clean up river trails. Register through Facebook event page.
June 4: River walk, sponsored by the Bird Club and designed for Chenango County 4-H. The walk starts at 6 p.m. sharp to 7:30 p.m., and will meet behind Bordentown Circle Apartments, located behind Pires Flower Basket off North Broad.
