SHERBURNE – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS), the Save The Sherburne Inn Restoration Project (SSIRP), and Kandi’s Kitchen food truck are partnering for the second annual “History Where You Eat” – Chenango County edition.

With regional origins in Madison County, this dynamic program allows participants the opportunity to discover a bit of local history while enjoying menu items unique to Central New York.

On May 22, join SSIRP board members for a behind-the-scenes viewing of The Sherburne Inn, along with updates of ongoing preservation efforts taking place at the historic structure. Two presentations will be offered, with the first beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the second starting at 7 p.m.

Between tours, guests are encouraged to purchase dinner from Kandi’s Kitchen and experience The Sherburne Inn’s restored dining areas. Space is limited, and registration is encouraged by emailing info@ChenangoHistorical.org.

We are grateful for this unique opportunity to explore our regional heritage thanks to this engaging community collaboration.”

As the geographical and social center of a vibrant Chenango County village, The Sherburne Inn bridges past, present, and future with community spirit and an historic legacy. Saved from demolition in the last decade by generous donations and preservation grants, SSIRP originated with an extensive structural renovation. Now functioning as an event space, SSIRP is now preparing to enter the third phase of The Sherburne Inn’s rebirth.

First established in 1939, CCHS is the primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County. The area’s premier heritage museum, the organization celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories of the region. CCHS programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

The mission of the Chenango County Historical Society and Museum is to explore the culture of Chenango County through preservation and presentation of local heritage.
