OXFORD — Finding the right seed is an excellent way to improve your garden, and there will be a wide variety of local heritage seeds this Saturday at the last indoor Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market of the season.
The Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market will be holding its final winter market and Annual Community Seed Giveaway from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., April 6, at the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford, located at 16 Fort Hill Park. Parking is available in the middle school parking lot.
“We do an annual seed swap, asking those that have extra seeds to bring them in for trade, and even those who do not have seeds can still come by and browse through the ones that are available,” said Oxford Market Activity Leader Jessica Henninge.
Organizer and volunteer Trellan Smith said, “We won't know until the day, as to what seeds will be brought to the giveaway, but there is usually a wide variety of beans, greens, flower and herb seeds that would be considered heirloom and shared by community members.”
She said Noel Fahey from Fiat Homestead will bring his own heirloom seeds and believes Jim Girton will have a lot of plant starts for sale.
