AFTON — The Afton Museum, located at 116 Main Street, has gone through some major changes this year by signing on new members and volunteers, restorations, changing up the touring rooms, and adding a research room.
The new Afton Historical Society (AHS) members and volunteers are: Paul Stack, President; Melanie Hager,Vice-President and Historian; Destiny Case, Curator; Tracy DeMatteo, Secretary; Angelina Mueller, Treasurer; Maryann Palmetier; and Alton Prentice, Trustee.
Hager said they are very thankful for those who have served on the board and volunteered before, and thanked them for years of dedicated service to Afton's Historical Society.
“There are really good people that have done their best with the museum and we are thankful for everyones support,” said Hager.
“History isn't just about the past, and it's definitely not boring,” Hager said. “Everyday we create history. It's ongoing and very interesting.”
Hager said she has lived in Afton her entire life and has always enjoyed history and sharing it with others.
She said she looks forward to her new role as historian and vice president of the AHS, and introduced the new board members and volunteers.
Hager said, “Paul Stack is a longtime resident and holds a deep desire to investigate history, even since he was a child. His family has one of the oldest family farms in Afton.”
