GREENE — Windy Hill Farm Store owner David DeYoung recently opened his farm store located at 137 County Road 32 in Greene and found he was in need of additional equipment.

He said he came across the Chenango County Agriculture Development Council (ADC) grant by seeing press on it and applied for grant funding in hopes to support his store needs.

DeYoung said the ADC reviewed and approved his business plan and the council awarded him a $1,000 grant for the purchase of an additional freezer and road signage for advertising.

“My farm store was in need of another freezer to store and display homegrown meats,” he said. “I started with a small chest freezer and quickly outgrew it.”

“I’m also adding additional signage by the road to display what is in the store and encourage customers to stop in,” he added.

DeYoung said he’ll also be building a produce wagon for fruits, vegetables, eggs, and cut flowers.

He said Windy Hills Farm Store was formed on January 2, and offers home grown pasture raised beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and duck.
