CHENANGO COUNTY - More than ever before chambers of commerce are being asked to aid their local communities in navigating the challenging changes in technology and consumer buying habits.

For decades Commerce Chenango has worked diligently to make the communities of Chenango County exceptional places to live and work.

Commerce Chenango provides benefits to members and works together to stimulate local economies with grant and loan assistance. They also foster connections between businesses through networking events and sponsorship opportunities.

Local tourism also falls under the umbrella of Commerce Chenango’s responsibilities, encouraging visitors to explore Chenango County.

Another primary task the group performs is keeping the community informed about upcoming events, job fairs, and other community news through social media and weekly member newsbytes.

Commerce Chenango was organized in 1959, as a not-for-profit community-based organization dedicated to enhancing the economic growth of Chenango County and the surrounding area. The organization works closely with businesses and government to improve the quality of life for local residents.

According to the Association of Chamber of Commerce: “While most chambers work closely with government, they are not part of government although many consider the process of appropriately influencing elected/appointed officials to be one of their most important functions.”

Commerce Chenango advocates for members on a local, regional, and state level using their connections with legislators.
