GREENE – On a gloomy Friday evening, the Greene Trojans flag football team took on Windsor for their third game of the season. Greene came into this match-up with a 1-1 record, coming off their first victory in shutout 30-0 fashion against Chenango Valley. The Trojans were also sporting new uniforms for their second home game. Greene fell 18-8 against an experienced Black Knights team.
Both teams battled it out in the first half with Greene being able to pin Windsor deep in their own end zone, which set up a safety by Macie Browning. Greene took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Greene had the ball to start the second half, which gave them leverage to add on to the score, which they did. After a few run plays by Audra Doll and hand-off’s to Nadia Brown, Greene was in good position. Doll connected with Ahraya Whitt for the score. The Trojans were up 8-0, but left plenty of time to Windsor.
The Black Knights took advantage with a touchdown on their next three possessions, even a pick-six, to win 18-8. Greene could not answer back and dropped to 1-2 on the season.
Greene heads to Owego Apalachin on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
