ONEONTA – The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team traveled to Oneonta on Monday, and showed improvement throughout the first five games of the season. Norwich fell 14-9, but had a great turnout on the bases off Oneonta’s errors and their own patience at the plate.
Norwich had a three-run first inning, which they held a 3-2 lead up until the bottom of the fifth inning. Norwich quickly loaded up the bases with two straight walks and a hit by pitch. All base runners would come in to score with two scoring on passed balls and one on a bases-loaded walk. Oneonta got one off a passed ball in the bottom half of the inning and added an additional run in the second.
