NORWICH — The City of Norwich Common Council has postponed their vote to adopt the first City of Norwich flag after discovering potential copyright infringement in the winning design.

After receiving 88 submissions for a flag design, the City of Norwich Flag Initiative Committee narrowed down the submissions to a top eight and held a public vote to select the final design.

The city received hundreds of votes to determine the design, which was reveiwed by the common council. A vote was set for last night's common council meeting to adopt the design as the first official City of Norwich flag, but it was postponed at the last minute after confusion arose over potential copyrighting of elements of the design.
