GREENE – On a misty Thursday night under the lights, the Greene Trojans flag football team hosted the visiting Johnson City Wildcats. Greene was able to pick up their first home win, even with the football being soaked, of the season with a 34-24 victory, their second official win in the program’s inaugural year.
Greene won the coin toss and deferred until the second half, which gave Johnson City the football to start the game. The Wildcats quickly handed the ball off, which happened on almost every offensive play, and scored to give themselves an early 6-0 lead. Not for long though as Greene answered on their second possession, following Molly Cornell snagging an interception and giving her team nice field position. Cornell found Allison James for the score to tie up the game at six. It would remain 6-6 until about five minutes left until halftime.
