Track And Field: Local Trackletes Race In Sidney’s Doug Quinney Invite

SIDNEY – All local track and field teams were in action at Sidney’s Doug Quinney Invitational over the weekend.

The host school won the overall girls’ meet with Unadilla Valley in fourth, Bainbridge-Guilford in fifth, Norwich tied for 11th place, while the Oxford/Greene girls did not place. Oneonta won for the boys with B-G in fifth, Oxford/Greene in sixth, UV in seventh, and Norwich came in 10th place. There were over 20 schools competing on both sides, which also included Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ track and field team continues to excel in their respective running events with remaining consistent in fielding.

For the team events, B-G took second in both the girls 4x400 and 4x800 events. A team of Ethne Degan, Maddie Ingham, Laila Williams, and Sage Pruskowski took second for the 4x400 as Ingham, Williams, Lalaenia Baldwin, and Vanessa Brazee finished behind UV in the 4x800 relay.

Degan would then go on to win the 1500 meter run with a top time of 4:50.99. GMU’s Andrea Favinger, who broke the school-record in a previous meet, finished third with time of 5:20.29. Degan’s teammate Ingham finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.07. Lalaenia Baldwin and Ruth Wilson set new personal bests in the 3000 meter run. Baldwin finished fifth with a new best time of 12:43.55 as Wilson ran it in 15:03.11, a new best for ninth place.
