Achieve To Hold Ribbon-cutting Ceremony For Community-based Services Building
Published: April 23rd, 2024

NORWICH – Achieve, a chapter of the ArcNY, will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new, state-of-the-art Day and Community-Based services location in downtown Norwich.

A ribbon-cutting event for family and friends of Achieve will be held on at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 25. This will be the first opportunity for those in attendance to tour the building and celebrate the move into town.

Achieve is an agency supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Broome, Tioga, and Chenango Counties.

The renovated facility, located at 27 Griffin Street in downtown Norwich, is the former site of CWS Packaging, which ceased operations in December 2021. Since that time, the warehouse has sat largely unused. At the same time, Achieve’s day habilitation site was located outside of town, making meaningful opportunities for community integration difficult.

In the Spring of 2023, Achieve broke ground on the 5 million dollar capital campaign project to bring Achieve’s Day Habilitation and Community-Based services into downtown Norwich. The new building will allow better opportunities for employment training, skill-building, and community access to the individuals Achieve serves in the Chenango County region. The renovations include nine activity rooms, a sensory room, adult socialization space, administrative spaces, nurse’s station, culinary space, a café, and a large multipurpose events center which will be available for public use.
