AFTON – After falling to Unatego/Franklin at the start of April, the Afton Crimson Knights baseball team is rolling on with a four-game winning streak with its latest 21-0 shutout victory against Charlotte Valley. Afton took advantage of the Wildcats’ errors and took control on the bases to notch 21 runs on five hits.
The Crimson Knights started off strong with an 11-run first inning, where they batted around the lineup. Defensive errors scored four runs while Justin Reeves had two groundout RBIs, Levi Russell drove home a pair on an RBI single, Braydon Baciuska hit an RBI single and Matt Carmen was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded.
Afton added another run in the second off a wild pitch before four more runs in the third and five in the fourth. Their five-run fourth inning came with two outs and off one hit. Otherwise, Afton scored on a few more errors and a bases-loaded hit by pitch as Levi Russell picked up his third RBI with single to center. Russell and Cooper Warren, who was hit by pitch with the bases loaded and struck a two-run double in the third, both had a team-high three RBIs on the day.
