WINDSOR – The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team traveled to Windsor on Monday afternoon, where they took a 7-1 loss, dropping their second straight game. Norwich is now 1-4 on the season with its lone win coming to Sus Valley in early April. The Purple Tornado are looking for more wins to come with a handful of make-up games in the midst.
After two scoreless innings, Windsor got on the board with two runs in the third and added two more in the fifth before Norwich answered back in the sixth. Zack Parker hit a one-out double and advanced to third base on a sacrifice play. He came in to score Norwich’s lone run off Zac Turner’s RBI single. Parker had three hits on the day with two doubles. Jackson Sastri, Turner, and Owen Olds had the other hits for the Norwich offense.
Braden Reid and Zack Parker split time on the mound. Reid got the start and went five and a third inning, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits, two walks, and struck out three batters. Parker finished off the game in relief, allowing one run on two hits, and had one strikeout.
