OXFORD – Coming off a tough loss to Greene, The Oxford Blackhawks baseball team hosted Harpursville on Tuesday afternoon. Oxford picked up its first win against the Hornets on April 16 and earned another win with a 14-0 shutout victory in five innings.
After Conner Dunagan and the Blackhawks defense shut down the Hornets in the top of the first, the offense went to work. Dunagan led-off the inning with walk before getting out on a fielder’s choice to put Degan Endress on base. Landen Olinski hit a bouncer over to shortstop and Nic Dodzweit did the same to bring home Endress. Kyle Benjamin also drove in a run with the bases-loaded on a deep hit to center field. Brent Hamilton followed with a two-run single to center to cap off a four-run inning.
Oxford kept scoring in every inning they went to bat, adding two runs in the second, one in the third, and seven in the fourth inning. Olinski hit an RBI triple and scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the second as Dunagan scored on a passed ball in the third.
