CONKLIN – The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team has had its share of struggles in the last few games, but remains a hopeful team. Norwich faced Sus Valley in Thursday’s road game, dropping their fourth straight game with a 18-4 loss. With consecutive games to follow, Norwich hopes to find strength all across the board.
Sus Valley took an early 1-0 lead before Norwich answered in a big way as Hunter Coombs got a hold of a deep ball to left field to drive himself and Kaden Downey home with a two-run shot. Norwich went ahead 2-1, but the Sabers added on to make it a 6-2 ballgame after the second inning. Sus Valley added five more runs before Norwich would answer back again. Norwich plated one run in the sixth and one in the seventh in their final at-bats. Kaden Downey drove in a run on an RBI single in the sixth inning and an error would score a run in the seventh.
Colin Olds, Zack Parker, and Graham Burton split time on the mound for the Purple Tornado, combining for seven strikeouts in the loss.
