NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team hosted Oneonta for the final time in the regular season, after both teams were able to make-up games. The rival swept Norwich in the three-game set, including Monday’s 11-5 game. Oneonta remains undefeated on the season and in STAC play while Norwich hopes to snap their losing streak with consecutive games upcoming.

Oneonta scored five unanswered runs before Norwich got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning off an RBI single from Graham Burton after Zack Parker led-off the inning with a single and stole second base. The yellow jackets added on with a six-run sixth inning and Norwich added three runs of their own. Two hits by Jaxson Francis and Parker and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Carmine Pastore, who hit an RBI single to left field. One run scored on a wild pitch and then Owen Olds brought home a run on a single to left field. Zack Parker scored the final run on a steal of home on Norwich’s final at-bat. Parker finished 3-for-4 at the plate with four stolen bases.

Graham Burton got the start on the mound for the Purple Tornado as Colin Olds and Aiden Whaley pitched in relief. Together, the trio combined with seven strikeouts in the loss with three strikeouts from both Burton and Olds.
