NORWICH — When police officers retire, they not only leave behind their sworn oath to protect and serve, but in some cases, leave behind big shoes to fill.
That is exactly what happened when Norwich Police Officer Brandon Clarke retired.
On April 30, a retirement party was held for Officer Brandon Clarke, who officially retired from his 17 year career with the Norwich Police Department (NPD).
“Losing Officer Clarke to retirement leaves a large void of experience and reliability,” said NPD Chief Reuben Roach. “Officer Clarke was often the first one to come in when things got tough, and his tenacity and bravery are unmatched.”
“The most notable duties of Officer Clarke were that of a K-9 handler and then later as a School Resource Officer,” said Roach. “Officer Clarke and K-9 'Weeks,' served the Norwich Community together for 8 years, until Weeks' retirement.”
