AFTON – The Afton Crimson Knights honored its senior class on Thursday against Sidney, where Afton extended its win streak to nine straight in the 9-3 victory. Congratulations to Justin Reeve, Braydon Baciuska, Jonathan Crosby, Landon James, and Carter Burns. Congratulations to Spencer Wrench, who will be honored at a later time. Afton sits at 11-2 on the season, behind Unatego-Franklin in second place in the MAC standings.
The game was tied at one a piece until Afton added five runs in the bottom of the second and extended its lead with three runs in the fifth inning. Ryan Wright was phenomenal at the plate and on the mound. He went 4-for-5 at the plate with two triples, including a RBI triple in the second, and also stole two bases. Braydon Baciuska drove in a run in the second and went 2-for-4 as Reeve’s lone hit drove in a run to follow. Carter Burns led the team with four RBIs. Two runs also were scored on a wild pitch and an error.
Wright pitched the complete game, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits, two walks, and struck out 18 batters in the win.
