Baseball: Norwich Can’t Hold On; Falls To Windsor In High-scoring Affair

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team welcomed Windsor for its second straight home game after honoring the seniors the night before.

Norwich held a 10-3 lead, going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Black Knights pumped up 12 runs to win 15-10 in the high-scoring game.

Norwich took a 4-1 lead after the first inning, led by an error and two singles before Jaxson Francis smacked a double to right field to bring in two. Zack Parker scored on an error as Francis advanced to third. Kaden Downey drove in a run with an RBI single. Downey, Parker, Francis, Coombs, and Zac Turner all had two hits each, while Owen Olds led the team with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with two RBIs.

Carmine Pastore, Zack Parker, Jackson Sastri, and Colin Olds split time on the mound with Pastore going the distance with six and a third innings pitched, where he picked up two strikeouts.
