BINGHAMTON – With the 2024 season winding down, the Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team traveled to face Seton Catholic on Monday evening with a game under the lights, as game time was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. It was a tied game that went into extra innings and Seton scored the game-winning runs in the top of the 10th inning to win 4-2. Despite the loss, Norwich hit the ball well and made improvements all around.
Norwich got on the board first with an RBI single for Jaxson Francis, who went 2-for-4 on the day. Seton answered in the top of the second inning to tie the game at 1. The Saints took a brief 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth before Norwich tied in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Zack Parker hit an RBI double in the sixth and went 1-for-4 at the plate while Kaden Downey led the team with three hits and two stolen bases. Carmine Pastore and Jackson Sastri also added one hit each.
Braden Reid went the distance through eight innings, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks, and struck out 11 batters. Pastore pitched two innings in relief, allowing two runs on two hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
