BAINBRIDGE – On Tuesday, the Bainbridge-Guilford softball team took on Sidney in the MAC girls’ semi-finals game. B-G was the second seed, hosting third seed Sidney. B-G earned the second seed after finishing the regular season with a 8-1 league record ahead of the Sabers and behind Deposit-Hancock, who sits in first place. B-G defeated Sidney in a close 3-2 game about a week ago, but fell 5-2 this time around. Sidney will face the winner of the Unatego/Deposit-Hancock game for the MAC softball championship.
Sidney got on the board in the top of the second inning off a solo home run and added another run to go up 2-0. The Sabers extended their lead to 4-0 before B-G added two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alessandra Cafasso drove in a pair with a double to right field. Breanna Casey led the Bobcats with two hits as Cafasso, Danica Park, and Kate Baciuska all had one hit each. Jayslin Henderson reached on an error and stole two bases.
Gabby Cuozzo went six and a third innings on the mound, allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits, four walks, and struck out 11 batters. Brenna George came in to get the final two outs and gave up one earned run on one hit, walked three, and struck out two batters.
