GREENE — The Greene Rod and Gun Club will be hosting a firearms education for women and girls only, sponsored by Women on Target (WOT) and The National Rifle Association (NRA) Foundation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 18, located at 350 Foster Hill Road, Greene.
NRA Certified Pistol and Rifle Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer Janette Buell will be instructing the class.
“WOT is a program created by the NRA to introduce women to the sport of shooting,” said Buell.
Women of all ages are invited to participate, regardless of firearm skill or experience and girls ages from 12-17 are invited to attend with a woman over 21.
No permits are required and participants with pistol licenses, or between 14-20 years old, can shoot handguns to keep with New York State firearms law. All firearms are provided by the clinic.

“The day starts with a continental breakfast and then the basics of firearm safety follows until lunch break,” said Buell. “Participants will learn safety equipment and handling skills, fundamentals of marksmanship, ammunition basics, and proper gun storage and cleaning.”
“After lunch the fun starts,” she said. “We head down to the ranges and the ladies get to fire both rifles and handguns.”
