CONKLIN – The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team traveled to Sus Valley on Saturday to take on the Sabers in the final game of the 2024 season. Norwich held a 6-0 lead after the second inning, but the Sabers scored four in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth inning to win 11-7.
Norwich had a big first inning, plating five runs. Kaden Downey drove in a run on a single as Jaxson Francis followed with an RBI single himself. Graham Burton drove in three of five runs on the day with a homer to left field. He added an RBI single in both the second and fourth innings. Francis, Carmine Pastore, Colin Olds, and Owen Olds all had one hit each as Downey and Jackson Sastri both had two hits.
Braden Reid and Colin Olds split time on the mound. Reid went four innings, allowing nine runs, four earned, on eight hits, four walks, and struck out five batters. Olds allowed two earned runs on three hits, one walk, and had one strikeout.
