NORWICH — The Norwich City School District (NCSD) will be holding a vote for the 2024-25 budget as well as a vote for Board of Elections members from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 21 in the Board of Education Conference Room at the District Office, located at 89 Midland Drive in Norwich.

To vote, individuals must be a US citizen, at least 18 years old, reside in the Norwich City School District for at least 30 days prior to the vote, and not otherwise be disqualified to vote.

Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the School District by requesting to be registered by the District Clerk at 607-334-1600.

The 2024-25 proposed budget includes a tax levy of 2.2 percent, which falls within the tax cap; a proposed library levy of $1,276,600; and a total budget of $47,355,524, which is organized into three sections: administrative, program, and capital.

The administrative component totals $8,304,276, and provides funding for district and building oversight as well as instructional support services. This component includes allocations for BOCES data management, insurance, employee benefits, business and financial operations, and more.

The program component is the largest portion of the budget at $32,778,865. This component includes instructional costs such as teachers and classroom support, pupil support services, co-curricular activities, athletics and the operational cost of transporting students.
