HERKIMER – Coming off a tie against Adirondack last Wednesday, the Sherburne-Earlville softball team traveled to take on a tough Herkimer team. Everything went so right for the S-E team, who revenged a loss to the Magicians earlier in the season. S-E had great pitching from Fisher, 10 hits, and a clean defense in the 5-0 shutout win. It’s S-E’s eighth win of the season, which ranks them first in Section III, Class B and second overall in the Center State Conference with a few regular season games remaining.
After two scoreless innings, S-E got on the board as Reagan Krueger drove in a run on an RBI single and Haleigh Fisher had a groundout RBI for a 2-0 lead. Fisher kept Herkimer quiet, which allowed S-E to add two more runs in the fourth inning on Savanna Born’s RBI single and the final two runs, including one in the sixth, came off errors. Born, Krueger, Kadyn Babcock, and Jeanine Chamberlain each had two hits in the win. Born stole two bases and made the most plays on defense with 16.
Fisher pitched a one-hit complete game with one walk and 17 strikeouts.
