JOHNSON CITY – The Norwich Purple Tornado track and field team traveled to Johnson City on Wednesday to compete in the STAC Championship. Corning took both the boys’ and girls’ titles while the Norwich boys finished seventh and the girls in 15th place. Norwich athletes continue to improve in their respective events and a few came away with new best times with the 2024 season winding down.
Boys:
The Norwich boys’ team earned 40 points for seventh place and had two first place finishers with Richard Fuller and Lucas Craddock. Fuller won the 400 meter dash ahead of tough competition with a time of 50.67. He took second in the 200 meter dash, where he earned a new personal best time of 22.88, behind Waverly’s 22.52.
Craddock won the high jump with a jump of six feet with teammate Connor Marshall tied for 19th place with a new best jump of five feet. Craddock also competed in the long jump, finishing fourth with a jump of 21 feet, one inch. Gabe Decker was just short of a first place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.03, behind Sus Valley’s top 58.07. Marshall finished 19th in the same event.
