NORWICH - The Mid-York Concert Band will be holding its bi-annual performance on May 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Norwich High School Auditorium.
The Mid-York Concert Band is pleased to announce its First Annual Scholarship Winner, Anthony Pomares from Norwich High School will be performing an excerpt from his scholarship audition at the concert.
Anthony is a versatile musician. He was a member of this year’s Conference All State Band and also served as the lead character in Norwich High School's presentation of the musical "Big Fish.” Anthony participates in Field Band, Jazz Band and the Madrigal Choir as well. He is also a student athlete, participating in several varsity sports and consistently makes high honor roll.
In addition, enjoy high caliber performances by the concert band of The Music Man, Washington Post March, a Gershwin medley, a Copland Tribute, Cartoon Symphony, Danzon No.2, and a Festival Prelude as well as patriotic songs such as Armed Forces – The Pride of America and The Star Spangled Banner, plus more.
The Mid-York Concert Band is celebrating its 40th year and is comprised of people from all walks of life who enjoy playing concert band music. The MYCB rehearses in the fall, winter and spring and holds two annual performances. The MYCB is led by director and conductor, Doug Ernst.
Admission is free but The Mid-York Concert Band will be accepting donations at the performance, which provides funds for operating costs and the Mid-York Concert Band Scholarship.
