BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team welcomed Elmira-Notre Dame for the Section IV, Class C quarterfinals on a hot Tuesday afternoon. B-G as the third-seed received a bye in the first round. B-G came away with a big 19-1 victory to advance to the semi-finals on Thursday against a tough Union Springs team.
After a scoreless top half of the first inning, B-G got on the board with a little two-out rally, where Jayslin Henderson drove in a run on an infield single to shortstop. To top that, the Bobcats added 12 runs in the bottom of the second inning, where they batted around the lineup.
Kaylin Furgason led the inning off with a single to left field and came in to score on Breanna Casey’s groundout RBI. Danica Park drove in Brenna George, who had hit a bunt single and advanced to second base, on a single to center field. Gabby Cuozzo hit a two-run double to left field as an error brought her home on Jayslin Henderson’s at-bat.
After two walks, Madisyn Peck hit an infield single to second base to drive in a run before George followed with the same play. Casey was walked with the bases loaded as Park hit another two-run single. Cuozzo had her fourth RBI of the contest with a single to center her next time up in the inning.
