GILBERTSVILLE – The monthly meeting of the Butternut Valley Grange, Gilbertsville, will be held on Monday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grange Halll rooms at 7 Bloom Street. One member of the Executive Committee will be elected for a term of three years. Several reports of various events will be given.
During the last meeting several members were recognized for milestone years of membership by Worthy President, Keith Klingman. Honorees were Maryanne Campbell, Wanetta Daniels, Colin Theis and Helen Ritchey; 25 years; Colleen Bushnell and David Ireland, 40 years; Roger Halbert, Cathy Osborne, and Melodee Ireland, 55 years; Douglas Dutcher, John Matteson, and Joseph White, 60 years; Anna Ritchey and James Matteson, 65 years and Irmabelle Sheldon, 75 years. It was an especially notable event when Sheldon was present to receive the special letter and award from the National Grange.
Sandra Stoy and Barton Snedaker announced the winners in various Family Activities and Lecturer contests at the recent State judging: Bed size quilt: Karene Johnson, 1st; quilted table topper: Paula Evans, 1st; woodworking, Cathy Galley, 2nd; barn quilt painting, Cathy Galley, 2nd; writing Grange history, Anna Ritchey; and performing arts contest, Sonja Galley, 1st. Anna Rtichey’s pumpkin bread entry was declared winner locally and will be competing at the county contest June 8.
Cathy Galley reported on a very successful roast pork dinner held the end of April and Emily Campbell shared an update of the upcoming breakfast brunch that was to come about later in the week. Victoria Gregory informed the group that our Grange will be participating in the “Eat Your Way Thru the Alphabet” annual event at Unadilla Valley School with our selection of the letter “G” when grapes will be served. Bob Evans and the pie team captains will be meeting setting up the criteria and schedule for pies that will be made for the weekly local farmers’ market season.
Norm and Anna Ritchey and Anne Sebeck will be greeting arrivals at Monday’s meeting at 7 p.m.
