NORWICH — The Earlville Opera House (EOH) will be participating in Make Music Day for the first time on June 21, with free events scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. in Norwich's East Park and 7 to 8 p.m. in the Village Green in Hamilton.

Make Music Day is a worldwide celebration of music that began in France in 1982, and is always held on June 21, the longest day of the year.

"It's like a worldwide festival. We want to have a free day of music for everyone to enjoy, people to come together as a community and create music whether you’re bringing an acoustic instrument, or you're singing, or you’re just tapping your feet, or if you just want to enjoy and dance. We’re kind of calling all entities that want to participate and it’s to come down to East Park in Norwich," explained EOH Executive Director Michelle Connelly.

"It’s the longest day of the year so we want to make a lot of noise," she added. "Pretty much it’s just a way for the community to come together and express themselves through music together."

The Norwich event will be run by local musician and EOH Board Member Nate Gross, along with the help of Todd Rutan and other area musicians.
