NORWICH – The Chenango SPCA, located at 6160 County Road 32 in Norwich, is excited to announce the return of its annual garage sales, with the first taking place on Saturday.
The sales, which are held monthly throughout the summer, are a way for the community to rally its support for the animals at the Chenango SPCA, while also supporting each other through thrifting and re-purposing household items, rather than throwing them away or needlessly buying new.
“Our Garage Sales are an excellent way for people in the community to show their support,” said Chenango SPCA Executive Director Patrick McLaughlin.
He added, “Because all the items for sale are donated, the income from these events is 100 percent profit, and we direct it all to care for the animals, usually for their medical bills. Last year, our Garage Sales raised over $9,000, and we’re hoping to exceed that this year!”
The first of the garage sales will be at the Chenango SPCA this Saturday, June 15.
The sale begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Items for sale are not pre-priced, and will be sold for any reasonable donation. Beginning at noon, customers can also visit with adoptable animals inside the shelter. Thanks to support from the Safe Haven Fund, all approved adoptions are currently free.
The Chenango SPCA has additional garage sales scheduled for July 20 and August 17, both from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Anyone interested in donating items for sale is kindly asked to call at (607) 334-9724, extension 2, to make an appointment. The Chenango SPCA is unable to accept books, VHS tapes, large furniture, or clothing.
