Several Charged After Chenango County Sheriff's Office Makes Multiple Drug Busts

NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting Jr. recently reported the results of two drug investigations in the Norwich and North Norwich on June 10.

In one case Cutting said the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the Town of North Norwich on June 10 that resulted in the arrest of four individuals for drug charges.

Cutting stated it was approximately a month-long investigation into the sale and distribution of drugs at the location, which resulted in the search warrant.

Members of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office executed a no-knock search warrant at 113 Memory Lane in the Town of North Norwich in the afternoon hours of June 10.

“During the execution of the search warrant, deputies and detectives entered the residence and located Matthew Mason, Christopher Fuller, Samantha Savianeso, and Thomas Knickerbocker in the back of the residence. All four subjects were detained without incident,” reported the sheriff. “During the search of the residence, members of the Sheriff’s Office located approximately 4.04 ounces of methamphetamine, 3.47 ounces of fentanyl, 80 wax envelopes of heroin/fentanyl, packaging materials, scales, hundreds of dollars in cash, and other materials indicative of the sale and distribution of drugs.”

Matthew Mason, Christopher Fuller, Samantha Savianeso, and Thomas Knickerbocker were all arrested and transported to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.

Mason was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail until he can be seen in Chenango County Court.

Fuller arraigned and released on his own recognizance. Savianeso was processed and arraigned in the centralized arraignment and released on her own recognizance. Knickerbocker was released on an appearance ticket.

Matthew C. Mason, 38, of North Norwich was charged with second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, an A-II felony; two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance-meth and fentanyl, B class felonies, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a D class felony; and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Christopher M. Fuller, 30, of Oxford, was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a B class felony; and fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a D class felony; and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Samantha L. Savianeso, 30, of Oxford, was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a B class felony; and fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a D class felony. She is also charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Thomas W. Knickerbocker, 30, of Sherburne, was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Also on June 10 the sheriff’s office made another drug-related arrest following an investigation in the Town of Norwich.

Cutting reported that “Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious person’s complaint in the Town of Norwich. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Dalton Nelson and several other subjects. During the roadside investigation, deputies noticed several abnormal behaviors from Nelson and could visually observe drug paraphernalia in plain view of the vehicle, which Dalton claimed was his.

“Upon a search of the vehicle, and Nelson, deputies located crystal methamphetamine on his person, as well as several bundles of fentanyl in the vehicle. Deputies then located a small plastic bag inside the vehicle that contained pure fentanyl, along with several empty wax envelopes, and small plastic bags to be used as packaging material. Nelson was arrested and arraigned in centralized arraignment where he was released on his own recognizance.”

Dalton A. Nelson, 28, of the City of Norwich, was charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell), B class felonies; two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia (packaging material); and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

All crimes described are allegations, and suspects named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
