NORWICH — Helping Hands will be hosting their monthly giveaway night on Thursday, June 20 at 6 p.m. in front of the Norwich Family YMCA, located at 68-70 North Broad Street in Norwich.
Giveaway nights are completely free and open to everyone, no questions asked. Volunteers will set up stations in front of the YMCA to give out pre-bagged food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, pet food, and more. Individuals can walk up or drive through the line to pick up what they need.
"There’s no criteria, you don’t have to fill out a form, you don’t need to fall in a certain bracket. It’s anybody that’s in need," said Helping Hands Founder Lorri Race. "Please just show up. We’d love to have you."
Helping Hands has spent four years serving the community through their monthly giveaway nights. The organization is supported by local businesses and organizations who donate items and funds. Volunteers also play a big role in the giveaway nights by donating their time to shop, bag items, and hand out supplies.
In the past, Helping Hands has received assistance from NYCM Insurance, cvFree Church, Chobani, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Broad Street United Methodist Church, Valley Ridge Center for Intensive Treatment, Kerry Bio Science, Perkins School of the Arts, Achieve, and many more.
