PONY League Baseball: S-E Falls To Sidney

SIDNEY – After a 7-7 tie with Whitney Point in their Otsenango Pony League season opener, Sherburne-Earlville traveled to Sidney on Wednesday for a non-league game. S-E dropped the contest 11-1 as Sidney had a strong fifth inning.

After Sidney took a 1-0 lead in the first, S-E answered back in the top of the third inning. Tomek Jusianiec, who had a solid year on varsity, scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Sidney answered back in the bottom half of the inning and scored additional runs with seven in the fifth inning.

S-E failed to score another run and were held to three hits. Jay Tackabury, Lucas Newman, and Jason Daring each had one hit in the loss.

Newman also pitched four and a third innings on the mound, allowing six runs, five earned, on seven hits, three walks, and struck out six batters. Jack Bohnert pitched in relief and finished the game, giving up five runs, one earned, on three hits, six walks, and had one strikeout.
